The big bash

I rocked along to the MCG last night to catch the Twenty20 KFC Big Bash match between Victoria and NSW. As a cricket purist I look down my nose at Twenty20 cricket in general, but as I had no other plans for the night I was intrigued to check it out in person.

Making it more enticing was that it was a match-up between the two best teams in the domestic comp, with a fierce rivalry going back a long way. And the fact it was on at the 'G made it an easier decision still. I sat in the members with JV and Beccy and had a drink in one of the bars before hand and in another bar in the innings break. I love the 'G.

Turns out it was a pretty good match too. It had it's share of agricultural shots which is the purists grizzle, but what it's all about: all out attack. It had some big hits and a couple of absolutely classic catches, and was all go. The crowd of 30,000 really got into it.

NSW posted a decent total and in reply the Vics were struggling until David Hussey came to the crease. He played a great innings, hit a couple of long, straight 6's, and was caught one-handed in the fingertips on the boundary going for another.

Enter Dwayne Bravo. Still a very tall order then bang, a couple of more 6's, a boundary, and that was pretty well it. Tres excitement.

I'm not in a hurry to see my next Twenty20 match, but it wasn't so evil.
